RSM’s M&A team has successfully advised the shareholders of Medina Quay Meats Limited (‘Medina’), on its sale to Brakes Bros Limited, a subsidiary of Sysco Corporation.
The client
Medina Foodservice is the leading food distributor in the Isle of Wight, serving a diverse customer base across the independent market including pubs, cafes, restaurants, and hotels.
Since starting as a small family butcher shop in 1947, Medina has expanded and grown under the Ross name for three generations. In that time, the company has built an enviable reputation for the products it sells and now delivers from purpose-built depots in Newport, Isle of Wight, and Southampton. Today, Medina is a leading food distributor and true one-stop shop. It offers products, from frozen and ambient food to utensils, whilst maintaining the company ethos of being ‘big enough to compete, small enough to care.’
RSM’s solution
91̽»¨supported the shareholders through their decision to exit as sole owners, to allow Medina to join the Sysco Group portfolio and benefit from the additional scale and support. 91̽»¨led the deal from start to finish, running a process that withstood the coronavirus market downturn.
Transaction team: Clodagh Tunney, Kirsty Sandwell, Becky Mist, Mikey Goodwin, and Ryan Keen.
Testimonial
‘We are delighted we chose 91̽»¨as our advisers. Both Caroline and I would like to extend our thanks to the team for working tirelessly and providing invaluable advice, steering us through the process, and achieving fantastic results despite the current global coronavirus pandemic. We are excited about the potential growth prospects under the Sysco Speciality Group Portfolio.’
